Introducing... Ervan, Leonard, Barry, and Daan

For the past two years, the job market has been in turmoil. For Ervan and Leonard, it was an extra tense period because, after their studies, they started their first job with us. Barry previously worked at the Scheepsvaartmuseum as a supervisor, and Daan worked as an office manager in the events industry. So, you could say that DIQQ is a pretty new working environment for all four of them.

They agree on why they chose DIQQ. Barry (pictured right) was looking for a role in which he could work with people again, but this time he would like to connect people with one another. Daan (the second from the right) wanted to work in the recruitment industry for a long time. He always liked working with people, and he liked the idea of combining it with sales. "I always knew I wanted to work in recruitment. When Ezzaldeen [ed. employee DIQQ] and I got into touch this became a reality."

Leonard (left) has just completed his studies. Previous employers often told him that he had strong communication skills and that he should make this his job. He is also entrepreneurial and innovative. "I was talking with my friends about what the future really holds and where the best career opportunities are. We quickly agreed that it could only be one industry: IT. At DIQQ, I can do work that I enjoy and actively contribute to the future."

Ervan (second from left) already had some experience within the IT industry. He did his internship at a video surveillance company that specializes in Cloud. After his internship, he was looking for an employer with whom he could expand his interest in IT and work with people at the same time.  

Onboarding at DIQQ

With a large difference in work experience, background and education, we were curious to see how the new resourcers experienced their first month. We asked them what skills they believe are essential to perform as a resourcer, how their onboarding went, and what they think makes DIQQ different from other employers in the industry.    

"Work experience is not necessarily a must, but people skills are. It is indispensable if you want to do this work well," Ervan believes. The rest of the group can agree. Barry, by the way, adds that a positive attitude and a good mentality are just as important. "If you have the drive to prove yourself, want to be successful in your job and have enough people skills and communication skills, then you can do this job well. The rest will come naturally. You learn that during your onboarding."

"Work experience is not necessarily a must, but people skills are. It's indispensable if you want to do this job well." – Ervan.

Onboarding at DIQQ consists of a process with many training sessions supervised by the Head of Resourcing. In addition, each new resourcer is paired with a consultant. Training is given on the different functions within IT, the frameworks and skillsets, and how they are applied in practice.  

"It strikes me that DIQQ-employees know the names of all IT candidates and know exactly what they are looking for and what they want." - Daan.

"I found it really super interesting to learn how a website or computer program is built," mentions Leonard. "Through the onboarding, you get to learn about different functions, programs and skillsets, which makes you look at IT differently," he continues. The knowledge you learn during your onboarding is, of course, indispensable when you are in daily contact with experienced IT professionals looking for a new position. Still, it is not what makes DIQQ unique, they believe.

"It strikes me that DIQQ employees know the names of all IT candidates and know exactly what they are looking for and what they want. Not only are the resourcers impressed by the way their new colleagues deal with IT professionals during and after the placement, but also with candidates who are not placed. Ervan: "Even when we have placed a candidate months before, many of our colleagues still keep in touch with the candidates to make sure they are enjoying their new position."


The perfect match

What motivates our new colleagues to find the perfect match for IT candidates? Generally speaking, their answers reflected DIQQ's most important core value: personal connections. No need to regret bringing these top people into our company!  

Ervan had the feeling of being just a number with previous employers, he never wants to have that feeling again, and he doesn't want it for other people either. "I worked for a large company in the past, and that' s often how things work. What I learned from this is that it is super important to listen to the candidate's wishes. Only then can you make sure that someone really ends up in the right place."

"It's great that you can help someone take the next step in their career, which is so important to them." - Barry.

Leonard completely concurs with Ervan and also identifies another important core value of DIQQ: transparency. Not only does he think it's important that IT professionals can trust him, but he also wants to make sure that the people he speaks to know that they can always communicate with each other honestly and openly. "I want people to know they can come to me. To do this, you have to get to know people well and make sure they trust you. You can't always guarantee that every match will be a long-term success, but you don't want a reason for a mismatch to be that you didn't try hard enough."

"It's great that you can help someone take the next step in their career, which is so important to them," Barry thinks. Daan nods and adds. "It may sound exaggerated, but you really change someone's life, and if you can help positively change someone's life, that person never forgets you. It doesn't get any better than that, does it?"
